What is Remote Xpress Deposit?

Remote Xpress Deposit is a free, secure, online service allowing you to deposit checks into your eligible NCFCU account from a remote location. You can deposit a check into your NCFCU account using your smartphone by submitting a picture of the front and back of the check.

How does Remote Xpress Work?

It’s simple! You will first need to be enrolled in online banking with NCFCU. Next you will complete the Remote Xpress Deposit application and upon approval follow these easy steps to make your deposit. In order to use Mobile Deposit, you will need the NCFCU Mobile app installed on your iPhone or Android smartphone. Download the NCFCU Mobile app from either iTunes or the Google Play store.

What types of checks can be deposited with Remote Xpress Deposit?

NCFCU accepts any check drawn on a U.S. financial institution in U.S. dollars. This includes personal checks, money orders, cashier’s checks and payroll checks.

What are the deposit limits?

Deposit limits will vary per member and be determined during the application process. This information will be disclosed to you in your Approval Letter.

What accounts can I deposit into when using the Remote Xpress Deposit feature in the mobile banking app?

The only accounts available for deposit with the mobile banking app are Primary Savings (S0001) and Checking (S0040).

How can the picture of the check be made good enough to submit for deposit?

Taking high-quality photos of the check is imperative. You will have the option to view and accept the image or retake the photo. Make sure the check is centered, the photo is clear, well lit and taken from above. Here are some additional tips to help you capture your check image and make sure your deposit is posted to your account in a timely fashion:

  • Use good lighting and make sure there are no shadows on the check.
  • Place the check on a dark background.
  • Place the check within the box on your phone’s screen with no other objects or edges visible.
  • Focus is important! Being too close can make the image blurry. You can focus your image by tapping on your screen.
  • Use the phone’s camera button within the app to take the picture, not the shutter button on the side of the phone.

How will I know if NCFCU received the deposit?

You will receive an email concerning your deposit. If the submission was successful, you will see the deposit into your NCFCU account. If there were any complications, the deposit will remain suspended until an NCFCU staff member reviews the deposited item(s).

How long should I retain my original check?

Write void on the check and keep at least 60 days, no later than 90 days, then destroy.

Can I photograph more than one check at a time?

No, You may only photograph one check per deposit.

Can I redeposit a check that was returned?

No. If a check has been returned, it cannot be re-deposited through Remote Xpress Deposit.

Do I need to apply for this service?

Yes. To do so, please obtain and complete a Remote Xpress Deposit Application from any NCFCU office or the top of this page under forms.
